‘JOYFUL’ NEWS Dante Bowe, a member of Christian and gospel collectives Bethel Music and Maverick City Music, scores his first solo Gospel Airplay No. 1, in his rookie appearance on his own, with “Joyful.”
The song, which Bowe wrote with Ben Schofield, increased by 5% in plays in the tracking week.
While the single is Bowe’s first solo Gospel Airplay entry, he’s made five solo appearances on Christian Airplay. “Joyful,” which has been promoted to both Christian and gospel radio peaked at a personal-best No. 12 last August.
Meanwhile, as Bowe tops Gospel Airplay, Maverick City Music’s “Jireh,” with Elevation Worship and featuring Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine, rises to a new No. 3 high on the survey.
Additionally, Bowe is the second artist in 2022 to top Gospel Airplay in a first appearance, after Karima, whose “Redeemer” ruled for two weeks in January in her first visit to the chart. Before Bowe, Melvin Crispell, III became the most recent male to achieve the feat, with “Wonderful Is Your Name” for a week last August.
