Hold onto your hats: It may not be Christmas yet, but this week’s list of things to do in Philadelphia is fully decked out in holiday spirit and wintry fun.

Holiday fests and parades are popping up all around Greater Philadelphia, like the Annual Chestnut Hill Holiday Parade (Saturday), the Santa Stroll on East Market (Saturday) and Fishtown Freeze & Shopping Spree (Saturday & Sunday).

Live it up with happenings for kids, grown-ups or kids-at-heart like Family Festival: Sweet Dreams at the Philadelphia Art Museum (Sunday), Science After Hours: Celestial Sips at The Franklin Institute (Friday) and the Philly Cookie Festival at Bok (Sunday).

Wintertime classics return to the stage like George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker at the Academy of Music (opens Friday) and Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the Walnut Street Theatre (opens Saturday).

And you can enjoy days full of car-free fun during Open Streets in East Passunk (Thursday), Old City (Saturday) and Rittenhouse Square (Sunday).

Plus, celebrate the season with holiday tree lighting ceremonies throughout the region — including the massive Philly Holiday Tree at City Hall (Thursday).
